Uber cuts 3,300 jobs as it reshapes for robotaxis

Uber will eliminate about 3,300 jobs, roughly 10% of its global workforce, in its biggest staff reduction since the pandemic. The company says rapid growth left it with too many management layers and very small teams, making decisions slower and responsibilities less clear. It plans to use the savings to strengthen its ride-hailing and delivery businesses while investing more in robotaxis, or driverless cars that customers can book through an app. The cuts show Uber preparing for a future in which it wants to remain the marketplace connecting riders to cars, whether those cars have human drivers or not.
