AWS sets December launch for its first Saudi cloud Region

AWS has put a date on its first Saudi cloud Region: December 2026, more than two years after announcing a planned $5.3 billion investment in local infrastructure. A Region is not a sales office but a cluster of AWS data centers, giving Saudi companies and public bodies the option to run applications and keep customer data inside the country. At LEAP in Riyadh, AWS also expanded its partnership with HUMAIN, saying their first Saudi AI Zone will provide up to 50 megawatts of computing capacity by 2028, using AWS’s Trainium chips alongside NVIDIA systems to train and run AI models. HUMAIN’s Arabic model ALLAM is due to join Amazon Bedrock, AWS’s managed AI-building service, while its Fabric data platform will be offered through AWS Marketplace—making the deal a local route to both AI computing and the data tools businesses need to use it.
